Our People

Throughout Buckeye’s operational history, our culture has been key in successfully navigating transformational challenges and capitalizing on opportunities.

And, now as ever, our culture is a critical element as we seek to thrive through the energy transition. Our culture revolves around taking a collaborative, problem-solving, entrepreneurial approach to addressing our customers’ most important needs, which has driven the development of our platform. Since 1886, Buckeye has successfully navigated transitions in the way energy has been delivered – today, we have an outsized opportunity to capitalize on the opportunities the energy transition is going to present.

OUR COMMITMENT TO OUR EMPLOYEES:

In order to achieve our mission to meet the current and evolving needs of our customers, we have implemented a set of core commitments to our people and our culture that will enable our success. These include:

Operating as a Purpose-driven Team.

We have built a team culture that supports and rewards trust, accountability, partnership, and fairness – where people get great results from knowledge-sharing and being treated with respect.

Fostering a Collaborative Environment.

Buckeye has developed a culture that is team oriented in every sense. Idea-sharing meetings across the ranks are routine, pulling together employees with diverse backgrounds and skill sets to work together on strategy and performance solutions. We look for people who want to communicate new ideas and put them into action throughout the organization.

Providing Opportunities to Align Skills and Interests.

Buckeye places an emphasis on career-pathing for employees, by continually aligning employees’ skills and interests with the organization’s evolving needs and providing impactful training to help employees excel in their roles and grow professionally.

Pursuing Projects that
Allow for Growth.

At Buckeye, we innovate, solve problems, and make breakthroughs. We are attracted to challenging projects that move beyond the status quo.

Buckeye’s leadership team is visible, accessible, and engaged, which demonstrates not only their commitment to the success of the organization but also the value that they place on Buckeye’s employees.”

Promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in our workforce are cornerstones to ensuring Buckeye continues to evolve into an increasingly diverse midstream energy organization. At Buckeye, we stand together to drive change, including the buildout of an organization that values diverse backgrounds and diverse perspectives. We take a comprehensive approach to bolstering our diversity and inclusion efforts with oversight and support at the highest levels of the organization. Our four areas of focus are operating as a purpose-driven team, fostering a collaborative environment, providing opportunities to align skills and interests, and pursuing projects that allow for growth.

Our DEI commitments, which begin with a purposeful talent acquisition strategy that focuses on sourcing and recruiting qualified diverse candidates, are carried throughout our organization in the form of diversity initiatives, employee resource groups, ongoing efforts to ensure fair and equitable compensation practices, and more. We see each of these commitments as important to the growth and development of our employees on an individual level, but also as critical to our success as a Company.

Career Stories

Dina Conway

Sr. Regulatory Compliance Specialist

East Region

We are truly all one team. I have discovered through the years that it is the people at Buckeye that make it what it is. It is the people who care and treat each other with respect that create the culture that is Buckeye.

My current role is Senior Regulatory Compliance Specialist, and I provide support to the East Region to ensure we meet all PHMSA (DOT) requirements and deadlines. One of the most important functions I am responsible for is preparing and assisting the teams for their on-site PHMSA inspections. I am proud of Buckeye’s safety philosophy. Spending ten years in the Control Center before joining the East Region, I learned very quickly that safety was always first and will always be first.

My overall experience working for Buckeye has been nothing short of fantastic. The opportunities inside the company have been varied and many, and I watched others work their way from an entry level position to our Leadership Team. This made me want to be a part of Buckeye even more, as it showed me that people are appreciated here. I found my ‘home’ and am grateful every day for that.

David DeSocio

Sr. Project Manager

East Region

Buckeye is an organization that truly believes in their people and stands behind their policies and safety culture. The team environment is one of our strongest assets, as everyone works at 100% to get the job done safely and efficiently.

Buckeye also works with their employees to develop and grow them into increasing roles of responsibility. I started my 36-year career as a Technician I, and Buckeye assisted me with going back to school and completing my B.S in Engineering and my MBA. In my current role as a Sr. Project Manager, the daily challenges and diversity it brings is my favorite aspect, and each day brings a different adventure.

Marc Talomie

Operations Manager

Auburn Terminal

Buckeye promotes a safety culture over and above the industry standard. Countless tools, training, and employee interactions are the foundations of a successful commitment to safety.

I enjoy working with both pipeline and terminal asset teams in Upstate, NY. The teams express dignity, dedication, and a high level of professionalism that ultimately equates to operational excellence.

As an Operations Manager, I enjoy the day-to-day communication with my work teams and the ability to overcome challenges that are introduced. Working with a diverse group of individuals across the organization and developing constructive working relationships is also very gratifying.
